Global Negotiation Conference 2019
17-19 July 2019
The sixth Global Negotiation Conference took place at the ETH Zurich from the 17-19 July 2019 in partnership with the Chair of Negotiation and Conflict Management, ETH Zurich and the Europa Institute at the University of Zurich. The keynote speech was delivered by Mircea Geoana, Deputy Secretary General of NATO in which he reflected on the challenges facing global diplomacy.

The conference program also included presentations and workshops from Ambassador Dennis Ross (The Washington Institute for Near East Policy), Mikkel Gudsoe (University of Aarhus), Jack Williams (University of Zurich), Simone Schönenberger (Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs) as well as Michael Ambühl, Tobias Langenegger and Eemeli Isoaho (ETH Zurich).
The topics of the presentations and workshops covered a range of topics including the psychology in negotiations, the role of game-theory in negotiation, digital negotiations as well as the role of women in negotiations. More details on the full program can be found here.
The exercise brought considerable challenges to the table, and the participants were encouraged to think through unconventional ways in which they could deploy their resources in their country's long-term interest. At the final conference a delegation from ETH Zurich were commended for their performances during the simulation.
