
Christine Ogola

Christine Ogola is an environmental governance and sustainability professional with extensive experience in environmental management, climate adaptation and mitigation, and community empowerment. She has a proven record of building partnerships across civil society, government, and international organizations to drive inclusive climate action. She served as the National Coordinator of the African Youth Initiative on Climate Change (AYICC) Kenya and has previously worked as Lead Programme Coordinator at the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) Kenya, Climate Change Adaptation Specialist with Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO), and co-founder of Youth for Sustainable Development (YSD). In these roles, she has worked to amplify the voices of marginalized groups across local, national, and global platforms to influence policy and strengthen community resilience.
Christine’s collaborations include work with VSO, Greenpeace Africa, the UNFCCC, Ban Ki-moon Centre, Global Centre on Adaptation, IISD, IIED, CARE International, Climate KIC, and the Government of Kenya. She has co-developed Africa-focused policy briefs, co-organized Kenya’s Local Conferences of Youth (LCOYs) and the Global Community-Based Adaptation (CBA) Conferences, created the Youth for Adaptation and Leadership Toolkit, and translated IPCC findings on gender and equity into accessible formats such as a comic on gender and climate justice. Her work blends policy engagement with art-based advocacy, community mobilization, and participatory dialogues to keep climate governance people-centered.
Her leadership and impact have earned her several awards, including Africa’s Top 40 Impactful Young People Under 40 (2022), the Global Livelihoods Impact Award (2020), Kenya’s Youth of the Year Award (2022), and the National Volunteer of the Year Award (2020).
