
Frederik Nühnen
Project Lead & IGN Fellow
Frederik Nühnen holds a Master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies with a focus on international criminal law from Philipps-University Marburg, where he also worked as a trial monitor for state-protection cases at the International Center for War Crime Trials. His research explores the production of violence in intra-state conflicts and post-conflict state building, with recent publications on local responses to violent extremism in the Bangsamoro in cooperation with the Mindanao State University and Deakin University.
He serves as Project Lead for the Journal for Global Negotiation at the Institute for Global Negotiation and as Peace Educator for the Centro Nacional Chega! in Timor-Leste. Previously, he worked for the Federal Competence Centre for Cultural and Creative Industries, where he supported strategic projects for German ministries and developed policy concepts for a Democracy-Tech Fund.
Frederik’s professional and academic journey has taken him from field research in South-East Asia and West Africa to policy development in Berlin and back. At the IGN, his passion lies in connecting academia and practice, creating inclusive platforms for researchers and practitioners worldwide to share insights and strengthen dialogue in the field of negotiation.
